This is the one of those practical hardware engineering applications that really gets me excited. We have seen much higher end exoskeleton systems being tested by SOCOM previously, but the trickle down of technology into the commercial market is still nonetheless exciting.
Regardless of how far off your personal robot is to do your chores, I know plenty of folks over age 65 that would greatly appreciate their own extra mobility today. I know that my own parents would be far more likely to use a product like this than bare the public shame of many current mobility aids. If there ever was a perfect example of dual use technology, aiding a 200lbs warfighter with a 50lbs pack or a 250 lbs old man, to both walk easier with the same device this is it.
With an aging baby boomer cohort in prime need of physical assistance…might this be a better alternative to a scooter for many?
